Glass Spine : Finding Myself
Motion Project
The artwork delves into a journey of discovering my true value through examining four subjective elements. It raises questions about the purpose of my existence while reflecting my own tendency to be excessively attached to people’s perception as a fashion student, as well as the tendency of people to prioritize external perceptions.
The glass represents the constant reflection of other beings; the spine symbolizes the human-beings; water signifies all new external stimuli; and the wood suggests the strength of state of one’s inner-self. In the artwork, humans constantly compare themselves to others, defining their identity based on the perspectives and standards of others. Even when stimulated by the change-inducing element "water", they revert to their original nature and once again compare themselves to others.Through this ceaseless circuit, the artwork expresses the quest for one’s true value and the discovery of an inner core, ultimately striving to live as the ideal self or more authentically, as one’s true self.
