The Girl Who Prays for Peace
Motion Project
Growth in a divided nation like Korea brings forth anxieties related to themes such as war, human rights, hunger, the environment, and isolation, while also fostering a desire to resolve these issues. This artwork invites contemplation on what the true vision of the future for our society is, amidst the pain of division and the devastation of war.
The butterfly begins its journey with the prayer of a young girl from various cultural backgrounds. The butterfly symbolizes healing and comfort, serving as a mediator for the hope of peace, free from the constraints of religion, war, human rights issues, and social problems. Through the girl's longing for peace, as viewed through the butterfly, the artwork reflects on the concerns that society must focus on and emphasizes the crucial role of the artist in addressing these concerns.
